Course
structure
The
course consists of 23 core competency Units and one elective Unit,
with a total of 951 hours. Each Unit contains a workshop and work
experience; students must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and
skills learnt in a workshop in the workplace to be competent in
the Unit.
Units consist
of on-the-job and off-the-job components.
On-the-job means:
- practical
work experience in a health centre, specialist health area or
hospital;
- community-based
assignments or individual, or small group, learning times with
a lecturer.
Full-time students
will complete a minimum of 527 hours working in a health centre.
Off-the-job means workshops held at a Batchelor Institute campus
or annexe, or in a community.
